In the hustle and bustle of modern life, we often forget to tend to ourselves. We tend to focus on our physical health when we think of healing, and thankfully our society is bringing mental and emotional health to the forefront. But what about our energetic, spiritual health?
Enter the world of energy healing.
In the shamanic tradition of the Laika (the medicine men and women of Peru who fled to the High Andes upon the arrival and forthcoming persecution from the conquistadors, preserving their traditions and their profound healing techniques), our bodies are made of four energetic layers. First, the physical body, then energetically layered with the mental body, over that the emotional/soul body, and lastly the spirit body.
We can try to heal wounds from where they begin (ie, physical exercise, medicine, or supplements for physical health or healing mental concerns with psychology), yet according to the Laika and many other ancient traditional cultures, it’s much easier to step into a higher energetic body and let the healing flow into the lower areas. For instance, we can think ourselves into sickness – perhaps you “know” you’ll get a genetically predisposed disease that your whole family has gotten, therefore it manifests in your life yet accessing the root of this issue from the mind, emotions or spirit can fix a problem immediately and permanently.
Mindset shifts, removing low emotions such as fear, and changing or healing the unseen energy grasping the problem you’re experiencing make rapid and widespread changes in your life, for the better, beginning immediately.
These practices, now gaining scientific recognition, offer a holistic healing approach to well-being. It’s not just about healing physical ailments. It’s about nurturing our emotional, spiritual, and energetic selves too.
So, are you ready to embark on this journey of self-discovery and healing? Let’s dive in.
Understanding Energy Healing: A Holistic Approach
Energy healing, at its core, is about balance. It’s about aligning the energies within and around us to promote health, well-being, and allowing us to flow into our purpose. It gives us mindset shifts and emotional fortitude that form wise decisions and lets us take responsibility for our past, removing victimhood, and replacing it with empowerment and self-confidence. It’s about stepping into the flow of our existence on earth, and being grateful for every joyful and painful step of the way.
But what exactly is this energy we’re talking about?
In many cultures, it’s known by different names. The Chinese call it “Qi”, the Indians “Prana”, and the Japanese “Ki”. It’s the life force that flows through us, connecting our physical, emotional, and spiritual selves.
Energy healing works on the principle that illness or discomfort arises when this energy flow is blocked or imbalanced. By restoring balance, we can alleviate symptoms and promote overall well-being. However, energy healing isn’t just about fixing what’s wrong. It’s also about nurturing what’s right, enhancing our vitality, and helping us reach our full potential. It’s a holistic approach that sees you not just a collection of parts, but as a whole interconnected system of not only your energetic bodies, but connected to the Earth, all people on the Earth, and the entire Universe as well.
We can bring energy blocks into the world during birth, receive them at birth, or collect them along our life path. We can notice them as mother wounds (that from a parent in this lifetime or a past one), sister wounds (wounds unhealed women can put upon others), entity attachments, toxic positivity, toxic feminine energy and toxic masculine energy, among so many others. We can address them with numerous methodologies, including chakra healing, healing the masculine, healing the feminine, intuitive medicine healing, reconnection with Earth and her elements, and so many other types of energy work.
The Roots and Evolution of Energy Healing Practices
Energy healing has deep roots in human history. Ancient cultures around the world recognized the existence of life force energy and developed practices to harness it for healing. These practices evolved over time, influenced by cultural, religious, and scientific developments. Today, we have a plethora of energy healing modalities, each with its unique approach but all aiming to balance our energies.
From the hands-on healing of Reiki, the deep undulating energy of Shamanism, to the movement-based Qigong, these practices offer diverse paths to well-being, catering to different needs and preferences.
Scientific Insights into Energy Medicine
Science is now catching up with what ancient cultures have known for millennia. Cutting-edge research in fields like quantum physics and bioenergetics is shedding light on the science behind energy healing. Studies suggest that our bodies are indeed bioenergetic systems. Our cells communicate through electromagnetic signals, and disruptions in this communication can lead to illness. Energy healing practices, by influencing these bioenergetic fields, can potentially restore balance and promote health. While more research is needed, these findings offer exciting validation for the power of energy healing.
The Chakras: Gateways to Healing
In the realm of energy healing, the chakras hold a special place. These are energy centers located along our spine, each associated with specific aspects of our physical, emotional, and spiritual selves.
The concept of chakras comes from ancient Indian spiritual traditions. For the sake of simplicity in this article, they are often visualized as seven main chakras, each represented by a different color and symbol. When you begin studying the chakra system it becomes much more complicated, and different than depicted here, however this is an excellent place to start. These chakras are:
- Root Chakra (Red)
- Sacral Chakra (Orange)
- Solar Plexus Chakra (Yellow)
- Heart Chakra (Green)
- Throat Chakra (Blue)
- Third Eye Chakra (Indigo)
- Crown Chakra (Violet)
When our chakras are balanced, energy flows freely, promoting health and well-being. But when they’re blocked or imbalanced, it can lead to physical, emotional, or spiritual discomfort.
Energy healing practices like Reiki, chakra meditation, and crystal healing aim to balance these chakras, restoring the free flow of energy.
Modalities of Energy Healing
Energy healing is a broad field with numerous modalities. Each has its unique approach, but all aim to balance the body’s energy to promote healing and well-being.
Reiki, for instance, is a Japanese technique that involves the practitioner channeling universal life force energy, or “ki,” into the client to stimulate healing. Qigong, a Chinese practice, combines movement, meditation, and breathwork. It’s designed to cultivate and balance “qi,” or life energy, within the body. Pranic healing, originating from the Philippines, works on the principle that the body can heal itself. It involves cleansing the body’s energy, or “prana,” to accelerate this natural healing process. Shamanic healing from traditions worldwide also maintain ancient knowledge about energy balance and alignment, as well as entity removal, time folding, journeying to retrieve soul parts, death rites, and deep channeling on behalf of the client’s intentions. Many times only one session with a skilled practitioner will begin moving life in the right way.
Energy healing can look like many different things. Here’s a few you may encounter along your healing journey:
1. Hands-on healing (laying of hands)
2. Sound healing
3. Shamanic healing
4. Distance healing
5. Sensory Deprivation healing
Many, many different methodologies are out there for each of the listed above. Each modality offers unique benefits, and what works best can vary from person to person. It’s about finding the approach that resonates with you and supports your healing journey.
Creating Your Energy Healing Routine
Creating an energy healing routine is a personal journey. It’s about finding practices that resonate with you and fit into your lifestyle. Start by exploring different modalities. My favorites are shamanism, acupuncture and acupressure. Massage, Reiki, and sensory therapies or sensory deprivation are amazing as well. Experiment with crystals, sound healing, or chakra balancing. See what feels right for you.
The key is to make it a routine. Go see a professional energy healer on a schedule, as you would a chiropractor or a hairstylist. Routine makes sure your energy is balanced more often than not, and even if you don’t feel you need it, you will benefit in many unseen ways, as long as the healing methodology is aligned with you and you truly enjoy it. If you have problems making it to appointments with your busy schedule, no worries! Join my weekly healing group here!
Your Daily Spiritual Healing Routine
Creating a daily spiritual routine for yourself is incredibly easy This could include a morning meditation while you shower, a midday energy check-in when you do a quick internal scan of your body or mind, or an elaborate evening self-healing ritual. The key is consistency. Even a few minutes each day can make a big difference.
Here are some ideas to get you started:
- Start your day with a grounding meditation. This can be done while you’re driving, showering, or finishing up last night’s dishes.
- Take a few minutes each day to scan your energy.
- End your day with a healing ritual. This could look like a gratitude practice, journaling, light or deep meditation, a sacred bath, sound therapy, vibration therapy, light therapy, or anything else that is calling you on your current spiritual or healing journey.
- Keep your expectations at bay and replace them with childlike wonder. It may take some time to begin reaping the benefits, especially if you’re not working with a professional.
- I have great meditations in Beyond just for you that address all of the above. Come join us and you’ll have access to all of the self-healing I have, plus more as fast as I can add it!
The Role of Community in Spiritual Healing
Community plays a crucial role in spiritual healing. It provides support, inspiration, and a sense of belonging. It reminds us that we’re not alone on our journey, which is a pain point we’ve all experienced.
Workshops, retreats, and are sometimes life-changing from many viewpoints. If you’re new on the path, connecting with people who have been in your shoes is comforting. If you’re building an energy healing business, you can find new clients, get a great self-confidence boost, and receive return healings and all-important business advice.
When you share your experiences and learn from others your life will expand exponentially.
Consider an online group of like-hearted and like-minded people on a spiritual path just like you. Beyond is just that; a community of people learning about where they stand spiritually, growing, expanding and shifting mindsets, and receiving weekly energy alignments and balancing without having to change our schedules or go to appointments.
