You’ve heard the calling… what’s next?
Becoming an energy healer is more than a profession—it’s a soul-level transformation. It begins with the deep knowing that you’re meant to help others heal and evolve, and continues with powerful training, deep personal healing, and spiritual alignment. The path is mystical, practical, and wildly rewarding.
In this guide, I’ll walk you through the spiritual and logistical steps to become an energy healer—from understanding what energy healing is, to choosing your modality, receiving certification, and building a practice rooted in purpose and profitability.
Understanding Energy Healing
Energy healing is a holistic practice that focuses on clearing, balancing, and revitalizing the body’s energy field. It’s grounded in the belief that your emotional, physical, and mental well-being are all tied to the flow of your energy.
An energy healer works with this system to remove energetic blockages, restore alignment, and activate the body’s natural healing abilities. It’s not a one-size-fits-all approach—there are many healing modalities to explore, each with unique philosophies, tools, and sacred practices.
The Roots and Rise of Energy Healing
This work isn’t new—it’s ancient. Practices like chakra healing, qi gong, and shamanic energy medicine come from Indigenous and Eastern traditions, rooted in awareness of subtle energy systems like meridians and the light body.
Today, energy healing bridges ancient wisdom and modern understanding. Evidently, as more people awaken spiritually, becoming an energy healer has become both a path of purpose and a growing profession.

Common Modalities for Energy Healers
There are many forms of energy healing. Here’s a list to help you envision what your future as an energy healer could include:
- Reiki
- Acupuncture / Acupressure
- Chakra Balancing
- Qi Gong
- Tai Chi
- Crystal Healing
- Therapeutic Touch
- Pranic Healing
- Sound Healing
- Aromatherapy
- Reflexology
- Shamanic Healing
- EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique / Tapping)
- Theta Healing
- Healing Touch
Each of these allows you to serve as a channel for energy in a different way. Your job as a future energy healer is to find the method that speaks to your soul and aligns with how you’re meant to help others.

My Journey to Becoming an Energy Healer
I didn’t arrive at my current path overnight. Back then, I was overworked, emotionally drained, and recovering from deep personal pain—owning a restaurant with my then-husband, navigating a broken marriage, and healing from a miscarriage. Even though I had already received my Reiki Master certification, it didn’t feel like my calling. I wanted to be shaken awake by energy—big, undeniable energy.
Then, my doctor referred me to a shaman. That first session changed everything. I experienced beings, messages, healing at a cellular level—and it was instant. I finally understood what it meant to receive energy medicine that transformed you on the spot.
Eventually, the Munay-Ki and The Four Winds found their way into my awareness (over and over again—thank you, Spirit). Within days, I was enrolled. I had become an energy healer before I even realized what was happening.
Choosing Your Modality as an Energy Healer
Becoming an energy healer means choosing a modality that matches your energetic blueprint. Not all healing practices will resonate with you—and that’s okay, whether you love intuitive hands-on healing or prefer working in subtle realms with spirit guides, your path is valid.
Try different forms of energy healing. Invest in receiving sessions from various practitioners. You’re not wasting money—you’re being initiated.
Training and Certification for Energy Healers
Once you feel aligned with a modality, training becomes your next step. Certification not only gives you credibility but also sharpens your intuitive gifts and teaches you sacred structure.
Here’s what to look for in energy healer training:
- Have you experienced this modality as a client?
- Do you trust the lineage and instructor?
- Is the curriculum balanced between theory and real-world practice?
- Will you have mentorship and community support?
Examples of energy healer training:
- A weekend Reiki training: Affordable and accessible
- A 6-month Shamanic Energy Medicine immersion: Life-changing, in-depth, and often expensive
- A 3-year Acupuncture Degree: Medical, licensed, and highly regulated
Each requires different investments—time, money, energy. But each is valid, depending on your purpose

Practice: Where Confidence Is Born
Here’s the truth, you won’t feel like a healer just because you have a certificate. You become a healer by doing the work.
Whether you’re introverted like me or not, practice is the soul of confidence. When you’re training to be an energy healer, take every opportunity to work on real people—friends, family, peers.
- Do 30% more practice than required
- Try both in-person and distance healing
- Reflect on each session and what Spirit teaches you
- Say yes to the awkward, uncertain first sessions
Practice is the sacred forge where your healer identity is born.
Life After Certification: Embodying the Energy Healer Within
Here’s the kicker: certification won’t fix imposter syndrome. You’ll feel the same after as you did before—unless you shift within.
Ask yourself, how many healing sessions will it take before I feel like an actual energy healer? and do I feel I need another certification to be “good enough”?
If these questions feel heavy, that’s shadow work waiting to happen. You are enough. You are a healer. The truth is, you don’t need another course—you need to trust the inner healer already alive inside you.
Becoming an Energy Healer Is a Sacred Commitment
Becoming an energy healer is a sacred, messy, magnificent journey. You’ll uncover hidden parts of yourself, remember your soul’s purpose, and create powerful change in the world. If you’ve felt the calling, it’s not random—it’s real. The path is already here. All you need to do is say yes.
